XCM 360 Full Xbox 360 Replacement Case shell review In stock and ships from USA daily at Llamma We have had a chance to take a close look at the Xtender Case Mods (XCM) XCM360 replacement cases. We assembled several of them for this review and we found them to be very easy to install. With the included opening tool we find it even easier to complete a Xbox 360 case mod. Take a look here to see the opening tool in action at our Xbox 360 disassembly tutorial which details the process of how to remove your Xbox 360 case. The entire process to remove the case and install the XCM 360 takes minutes. Its so easy even a cave man could do it! The full cases are high quality like all products from XCM; we love the fit and finish. They are made of high quality plastic and a perfect fit for your 360. They appear to be identical to the original Xbox 360 case except for the smooth as glass finish as opposed to the textured original case. Also these cases do not include the words "Xbox 360" in the sides so they lend themselves well to window cuts as there is no filling necessary. All cases come with the top, bottom, faceplate, dvd eject button, dvd tray bezel, both end caps, end cap bay cover and the XCM Xbox 360 case opening tool. The black and gold have a painted finish over a complimentary color plastic. The chrome is beautiful, tough and are actually metal; no painted on chrome and the under plastic is a grey color. The clear colors are great shades of each respective color; very similar to the Xbox 1 line-up of colors. The blue is reminiscent of the good old Katsumi Chan, the green is like it says Halo green and the red is a nice rich ruby red. The clear has good clarity to give you a great view of the inside of your Xbox 360. Here are some shots from multiple angles of the blue case, look at how transparent and flawless they are. The chrome case impresses us the most, it is truly a mirror. Its not the crappy thin coating of metal this is the tough quality stuff that feels cold like metal to the touch... To illustrate we weighed a diamond clear and compared the weight of the chrome case and were surprised to find it weighs a full ounce more than its non metal plated counterpart; that's the weight of about five and a half nickels!
This shot shows off how dark the smoke black case really is yet it still has transparency and looks great with a lighted replacement case fan. Just enough light to be unique but not so much it keeps you up at night.
We had some fun shooting some candy clear over the chrome for a nice royal blue mirror effect we will be trying some more options like green, cranberry red and gun metal black. As always with Chrome you really cannot photograph it you can only photograph something else it is reflecting on so in this case you even get to see a couple shots of The JT and TheHeadLlamma.
